Forklift Training Brisbane

7/231 Holt St, Eagle Farm QLD 4008, Australia

Our forklift training at Eagle Farm is intended to help students gain the knowledge and skills they need to safely operate forklifts and order pickers in a commercial setting. We aim to work with a variety of skill levels, from novice forklift drivers to experienced operators hoping to brush up on their knowledge.

Comprehensive forklift training in Brisbane

In our classes, we’ll go over all of the important elements of forklift operation to make sure you are always working safely. These include:

  • Types of forklifts — The counterbalance forklift is the most common type of forklift used in warehouses, but it is important to understand the basics of other types like the reach truck, order picker and side-loader.
  • Safety checks — A key part of our Brisbane forklift licence training is ensuring you know the importance of safety checks before using any machinery.
  • Risk management — Working near power lines or on rough and uneven terrain presents additional risks that must be managed by the forklift operator.
  • Driving techniques — Keeping the tines low and the load tilted back is crucial to safety.
  • Load information — After completing our forklift training course in Brisbane you will also know how to read and reference a load capacity chart.

What are the prerequisites you need to get a forklift licence in Australia?

As long as you are at least 18 years old, with a reasonable level of written and verbal English (enough to understand the training material) and have 100 points worth of identification, as laid out by the Australian Government, such as a passport, birth certificate, bank cards and proof of address, then you can enrol in our forklift operator training in Brisbane. Enrol online or get in touch if you have any questions – we’d be happy to help.

What type of forklift licence do I need to obtain?

There are two types of forklift licences in Australia — the LF Class License (Forklift) and the LO Class License (Order picker). Our forklift operator training in Brisbane gives you the LF licence. This allows a person to operate counter-balanced forklift trucks, reach trucks, side-loading forklift trucks and rugged or all-terrain forklift trucks. An LO Class license also allows you to operate a ‘turret truck’, designed for narrow warehouse aisles or an ‘order picking’ truck where the operators themselves are lifted up to 10m into the air. We operate courses for both counterbalance and order-picking forklift trucks, but which course you decide to complete should be based upon the requirements of the job you are aiming for.

Can I work in other states with a Queensland forklift licence?

Absolutely! Once you pass the assessment stage of our forklift training course in Brisbane, you will be granted an LF High-Risk Work License that is recognised across Australia. This means that even if you are planning on leaving the state in the near future, you can still complete your forklift training course right here in Brisbane, as the licence allows you to operate a forklift truck in any state or territory without needing re-assessment.

How can I pay for my forklift training?

We understand that it can be difficult to get employment without the right qualifications, and that without employment, it can be difficult to afford extra training. To make it as easy as possible for our students to get their qualifications, we offer versatile payment options on all forklift training in Brisbane. Training is sometimes paid for by state or council job-seeking assistance programs, and we accept Afterpay, which allows you to break the cost into 4 easy-to-manage instalments paid over a 6-week plan.
