EWPA Yellow Card

Operators of boom and scissor lifts under 11 metres in capacity are required to have been formally trained in the use of the equipment by a qualified and competent person, and maintain that competency. This the an obligation that rests with the employer to ensure workers have either provided evidence of receiving such training within a reasonable timeframe; and if not, provide it themselves prior to work commencing.

Description

An EWP under 11 metres is recognised by Worksafe Australia as not requiring a high-risk licence.  The same applies to a scissor lift of unlimited height capacity.  This is a one day course from 7:30am to 4:00pm.

Operators, however, are still required to have been formally trained in the use of the equipment by a qualified and competent person and maintain that competency.  There is an obligation that rests with the employer to ensure workers have either provided evidence of receiving such training; and if not, provide it themselves prior to work commencing.

The most common form of evidence of this competence is the EWPA Yellow Card. Delivered from our Brisbane facilities (or your premises) this short course is designed by the industry to allow operators to achieve the competencies to provide this evidence.

This course is run on for one day, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm at our Eagle Farm site, and covers:

  • Boom lift under 11 metres
  • Scissor Lift

Arrangements can also be made for:

  • Trailer Mount
  • Vertical Lift

It is a combination of theory activities in the classroom and practical activities in the yard, covering the basics of operation, motion control and working in elevated spaces. The course concludes with a theory and practical assessment of the knowledge and skills learned throughout the course.
